We are pleased to announce that the 26th International Forestry and Environmental Science Symposium organized by the Department of Forestry & Environmental Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) under the above theme will be held on 20th & 21st of January 2022 at USJ in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Prof. Delphis Levia, is a professor of geography and forest hydrologist, focuses on biosphere-climate interactions, snow science and forest biogeochemistry. Field research projects include work in the forests of Maryland and Switzerland. He is the Founding Director of GIS Science and Environmental Data Analytics Program, Department of Geography & Spatial Sciences, Joint Appt., Department of Plant & Soil Sciences, University of Delaware, USA. Prof. Delphis is also the program director for UD’s Environmental Science and Environmental Studies undergraduate program. He is the Series Editor of Ecological Studies- Analysis and Synthesis (Springer Nature), associate editor of Hydrological Processes (Wiley) and the associate editor of Journal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science (Wiley). In the 26th Forestry and Environment symposium, his keynote speech focuses on the lessons that forest hydrologists and foresters glean from the advent of the Revolution with respect to conducting forest hydrologic research.

Prof. Sanjay. K. SharmaProf. Sanjay K. Sharma

An internationally acclaimed, a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) Prof. Sanjay K. Sharma, FRSC is Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Rajasthan University and is a renowned author and Editor of many books, research journals and hundreds of articles from last twenty years. He has authored over 100 Research papers including many comprehensive Review articles in high impact journals of international repute and contributed 21 Books from the internationally acclaimed publication houses including Springer (UK), Wiley (Germany), Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), CRC Press Taylor & Francis (USA), Wiley- Scrivener (USA) etc so far. He will be delivering his theme talk on the role of green chemistry in achieving sustainable development goals.

Prof. Siril WijesundaraProfessor Siril Wijesundara

Professor Siril Wijesundara is currently a Research Professor at the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS). He obtained his BSc (Special Degree in Botany) in 1978 and his M Phil (Botany) in 1991 from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He obtained his PhD (Biology) in 1998 from the City University of New York. He won Presidential awards for research in the years 2001, 2002, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012. Before joining the NIFS, Prof Wijesundara was attached to the Department of National Botanic Gardens as the Director General. He was an Honorary Professor at the Department of Ecology and Biodiversity, University of Hong Kong from 2001 to 2010. In addition to the numerous known and unknown ecosystem services provided, forests contain a vast diversity of angiosperms generally known as flowering plants. Prof. Wjesundara’s theme talk discusses on the distribution and conservation of endemic flowering plants in Sri Lanka.
